Maribor, 19.04.2010 -

On the 19th and 20th April 2010 Republic of Slovenia, Ministry of the Environment and Spatial Planning organised a Transnational conference: Potentials for territorial cooperation with Western Balkans.

Transnational Conference in Maribor was organized in order to define the potentials of the Western Balkans. On the basis of these potentials and identified deficiencies, the needs for cooperation with other European regions were determined. The aim of the conference was to encourage the exchange of expertise between the participants and to discuss and identify concrete proposals for the implementation of cooperation activities with Western Balkans.

The conference was well visited. 151 representatives of transnational networks, organisations and transnational programme bodies, stakeholders, national and regional authorities, research institutions and different actors interested in transnational territorial cooperation were present.
In six thematic sessions 23 representatives of different stakeholders, administrations, networks, researchers, policy sectors, cooperation bodies, territorial cooperation programmes presented their views, experiences and suggestions concerning the addressed themes.
